Anomalistic Psychology Research Unit (APRU)

The unit is based at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and is part of the Department of Psychology. It aims to provide a focus for research activity in the area of anomalistic psychology.

A non-profit community association with an Australia-wide membership. The aims of the organisation are to collect, assess and disseminate factual information about psychic (parapsycological) phenomena; to support and encourage parapsychology.

Bio-Emission Laboratory

Formerly the Medical Imaging Laboratory, the Bio-Emission Lab is part of the Division of Radiation Research at the Japanese National Institute of Radiological Sciences. The Bio-Emission group study anomalous somatic functions, including the idea of Qi energy.

Boundary Institute

A nonprofit scientific research organization whose research activities include the development and exploration of new approaches in physics and mathematics, testing of new theory by experiment, and investigations of certain anomalous phenomena.

Center for Consciousness Studies

The center, part of the University of Arizona, promotes open, rigorous discussion of all phenomena related to conscious experience. Also holds the biannual Tucson consciousness conferences.

Center for Functional Research

The center is a scientific and educational nonprofit organisation. Its central theme is that "there is specific life energy in the cosmos and in the atmosphere, and that this energy is closely coupled with consciousness". One of the few places to talk about "orgone energy".

Centre for the Study of Anomalous Psychological Processes

Part of the Psychology Division at the University of Northampton, UK. The Centre offers an MSc in Transpersonal Psychology and Consciousness Studies.

Consciousness and Transpersonal Research Unit (CTP)

The CTP Research Unit builds upon the growing interest in the nature and origins of consciousness, and in transpersonal psychology in general, by establishing a recognised base for research in these areas.

Division of Perceptual Studies (DOPS)

DOPS is a unit of the Department of Psychiatric Medicine at the University of Virginia.Utilising scientific methods, they investigate apparent paranormal phenomena, especially: children who seem or claim to remember previous lives (reincarnation), persons with unusual experiences near death (near-death experiences and deathbed visions), crisis apparitions and out of the body experiences.

Institut für Grenzgebiete der Psychologie und Psychohygiene (IGPP)

A non-profit organization engaged in interdisciplinary research concerning anomalous phenomena, especially mind-matter relationships from the perspectives of the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Also offers information and counseling services for people with extraordinary experiences and has a special library and research archive for parapsychology and border areas of psychology.

International Consciousness Research Laboratories

A nonprofit consortium of investigators dedicated to exploring Consciousness.

 

Laboratories for Fundamental Research

LFR aims to use the tools of modern behavioral, physiological, and physical sciences to determine which parapsychological phenomena can be validated under strict laboratory conditions and to understand their mechanisms. Including the Cognitive Sciences Laboratory, it also examines the degree to which they might contribute to practical applications. In the past, the centre has been sponsored by the US government (e.g. the STAR GATE programme).

The LHPRG is dedicated to the study of anomalous or "psychic" experiences. Such experiences appear to reflect methods of communication and/or mind-matter interaction that are not fully understood within the current scientific framework.

The institute focuses on several areas, but the psychopharmacology section includes research on deja vu and anomalous experience.

Parapsychology Studies Group

A small study group which is headed up by Dr. Tony Lawrence and is based within the School of Social Sciences at Coventry University, primarily examing psychological and parapsychological efficacy of mental fitness technologies. The group also researches a variety of areas within transpersonal psychology. The undergraduate psychology degree offers modules in parapsychology and transpersonal psychology, and there is also a part-time MSc degree in parapsychology.

Rhine Research Center

Successor to the Duke University Parapsychology Laboratory (later called the Foundation for Research into the Nature of Man), the center aims to improve the human condition by creating a scientific understanding of those abilities and sensitivities that appear to transcend the ordinary limits of space and time and by communicating that understanding in cogent and responsible ways. They publish the Journal of Parapsychology. Also incorporates the Institute of Parapsychology

Based in the statistics department at UCDavis, Prof. Utts is well known in the field of parapsychology for her interest in parapsychological statistical techniques.

Based in the Psychology Division of the University of Hertfordshire, Professor Wiseman conducts research into parapsychological claims and the psychology of anomalous experiences, as well as more broadly into luck, deception, and humour. He is also active in science communication and promoting the public understanding of psychology.
